The team at Shelbourne Motors Toyota are proud to support local charity Portadown Cares in the development of their new Skills4Life program. Portadown Cares, a local charity dedicated to helping vulnerable people in the local community have designed a programme called ‘Skills 4 Life’ aimed at providing life skills to a wide range of vulnerable young adults with learning & behavioural difficulties aged 17 and 18 to better enable them to lead full and fulfilling lives as they prepare to leave the care system and live independently.
In 2012, Toyota established the Fund For A Better Tomorrow, which enables dealerships to provide small grants to charities, schools and community schemes. Over the last 3 years, Toyota have supported over 200 projects and donated in excess of £350,000. At Toyota, contributing to the community matters, the Fund For A better Tomorrow focuses on opportunity, development and a brighter future for all.
The donation of £1,800 from Shelbourne Motors Toyota to the Skills4Life program will contribute towards the development and training of program participants, including things that the rest of us take for granted – going to the cinema, catching a bus or train, cleaning your home, washing clothes, buying a mobile phone, road and vehicle safety, and other such basic life skills and knowledge.
The Shelbourne Motors Toyota team will also take the time to help with this training, particularly in road safety training, using the premises and vehicles to simulate real-life situations and helping participates gain necessary skills that can be used within the local community to help them feel safe, confident and independent.
