Is it really THAT hard to find a parking space in London? It would appear so, if Nissan’s latest stunt is anything to go by.
To launch the new Nissan Qashqai, and showcase how this refreshed model transforms city driving on its mission to “elevate your urban drive”, TBWA\London has created an epic road trip culminating in parking a car on the side of the Truman Brewery Chimney in London.
Kicking off the campaign are three CGI videos following the New Nissan Qashqai on its journey from the Nissan factory in Sunderland across key cities in the UK, before finally resting – in real life – on the Brewery Chimney.
The fibreglass model is one and half times the size of a normal Qashqai, measures 6.5 metres in length, 2.7 metres in width, and 2.4 metres in height – and it weighs 750kg.
Designed to capture the attention of amazed onlookers and create an excited buzz around the new model, the activation becomes the ultimate expression of how the New Nissan Qashqai, with its daring design, safety technology, latest connectivity and dynamic driving experience, allows you to “Elevate Your Urban Drive” - the line that brings the whole campaign together.
A Nissan spokesperson said: 'We're very proud of this British-built model and wanted to show if off for everyone to see. So, we figured why not park it in a place where it can't be missed.'
To date, more than four million Nissan Qashqai have been made in Sunderland the model first rolled off the production line in 2006. And around 140,000 e-Power Qashqai have been produced in the north east since 2022.
The newest model is sleeker, sportier and bolder than previous models with the interior having been upgraded. It comes with Google built-in, including the tech brand's mapping app, and an 'Around View Monitor' which aims to make parking in difficult spots easier. It certainly worked in this case.
