Nissan presents the new 2026 X-Trail, the latest evolution of one of the world’s most recognised electrified family SUVs. For 25 years, X-Trail has been synonymous with rugged capability, confidence and dependable family adventures across every kind of terrain.
This model year update for spring 2026 strengthens its core character with a more assertive look, enhanced onboard comfort and greater connected technology that supports confident driving every day. As an established icon within Nissan’s electrified range, the updated X-Trail elevates a well-loved formula while offering greater functionality to adventurous modern families.
Cliodhna Lyons, Region Vice President, Product, Services & Marketing Strategy, Nissan AMIEO said, “Over 25 years of X‑Trail, our customers have come to love its sense of adventure, practicality, and advanced all‑wheel‑drive powertrains. The new X‑Trail delivers even more of these qualities, bringing stronger design character, smarter technology, and the confidence of Nissan’s unique e-POWER technology.”
The updated 2026 X-Trail delivers a sturdier exterior identity while preserving the model’s signature rugged capability. The redesigned front fascia features a wider, cleaner V-Motion grille that gives X-Trail greater visual presence and a more modern expression of Nissan’s design DNA.
Stylish diamond-cut alloy wheels – 20-inches as standard on Tekna grade – combine with new glossy black lower bumpers, wheelarch surrounds, side sills and mirrors to strengthen its character. The refreshed front grille and side vents flanked by recontoured lower bumpers and increased body-colour coverage at the rear, deliver a more contemporary look. At the rear, new full-LED taillights sharpen the lighting signature, while two new exterior colours, Sukomo Blue and Coastal Dune (both available in two-tone) complete the exterior updates.
The X-Trail’s cabin elevates comfort and quality while staying true to its durable, adventurous nature. New materials bring warmth and craftsmanship, including chestnut brown premium quilted leather upholstery, a refined brown wood-effect console trim, and a high-quality synthetic leather option. Subtle updates across the cabin enhance harmony and convenience without compromising the car’s rugged personality.
Across the range, comfort-enhancing features include heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, three zone air conditioning, 12.3-inch infotainment screen and enhanced trims. A sliding 40/20/40 second row adds flexible space for passengers or larger gear, while options such as a BOSE 10-speaker premium audio system and heated windscreen – both standard on Tekna grade – enable customers to tailor the car to their lifestyle.
The latest NissanConnect infotainment system now introduces Google built-in for the first time on X-Trail, bringing an intuitive, handsfree experience to the cabin. Drivers gain access to Google Assistant voice commands, Play Store app downloads, weather updates, and full over-the-air update capability, all without needing to reach for their phone.
Drivers can also use natural language voice commands to control the vehicle’s ventilation system, heated seats and windscreen, to navigate to their next destination, or instruct the system to make a phone call or send a message, all without taking their eyes off the road.
The updated 3D eight-point Around View Monitor system, which displays a high-definition bird’s-eye-view onto the central display, now uses wide-angle exterior cameras. These offer the driver an enhanced 360° 3D viewing mode around the vehicle at low speeds, as well as a new T-Junction view and an invisible hood mode.
The new 360° 3D viewing mode lets drivers select from eight different camera angles around the car including front, rear, each side and the four corners, making it easier to identify unseen hazards that mirrors or a single camera might miss. The system works in harmony with moving object detection, which alerts the driver if it senses motion close to the vehicle during low-speed manoeuvres.
Two specialised views enhance visibility in the most challenging environments. Invisible Hood View uses front camera imaging and predictive processing to show the placement of the front wheels as though the bonnet were transparent. Ideal for avoiding kerbs, rocks or tight edges on uneven paths.
Meanwhile, T-Junction View offers a wide forward perspective at low speeds, improving confidence when emerging from concealed exits or intersections with limited visibility. Together, these features help protect the vehicle from everyday scrapes while supporting a more relaxed and precise driving experience.
ProPILOT Assist enhancements deliver smoother reactions, more stable lane keeping and better environmental awareness. Updates include anticipated speed sign recognition, more accurate traffic sign detection, undertake prevention, smoother braking and acceleration with more stable lane keeping, especially in narrow lanes, and more natural braking and acceleration.
The new 2026 X-Trail continues to be offered with e-POWER, Nissan’s unique hybrid technology, which is also available on the best-selling Qashqai and already trusted by more than 285,000 customers across the UK and Europe.
e-POWER delivers full electric motor drive for instant torque, smooth acceleration, and EV-like refinement without the need for charging. Paired with optional e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive, X-Trail enjoys exceptional grip, stability, confidence, and comfort across varying road conditions.
For customers whose idea of a perfect weekend is gearing up for mountain biking trails, skiing trips, or even just an adventurous family walk challenge, the updated N-Trek grade returns with a bolder, more rugged personality and a tougher stance.
For the first time, N-Trek styling features striking ‘magma red’ customised details on bumper inserts, contrast interior stitching, plus black and red Nissan logos on the wheels, tailgate, front grille, and steering wheel. Exclusive N-Trek emblems further reinforce its distinct identity, including a subtle ‘magma red’ Mount Fuji ‘easter egg’ in the boot.
The rugged styling is complemented by full LED headlamps, 19-inch N-Trek alloy wheels, black roof rails, and robust lower bumper surfaces emphasising its purposeful design. The new electric panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with natural light, bringing a brighter, more open cabin feel to every adventure.
Crafted with CellCloth® waterproof upholstery, the seats repel water and stay dry to the touch, helping to keep the cabin looking smart and protected from muddy gear and wet clothing. That practicality also extends to the lower cabin, with waterproof rubber mats and a reversible cargo liner built to cope with the toughest family adventures. With its tougher visual identity and protective materials, the 2026 N-Trek is the boldest and most adventurous X-Trail to date.
The updated 2026 Nissan X-Trail is available to order now, available in Acenta Premium, N-Connecta, N-Trek and Tekna grades, with prices starting from £38,220.
