5 of the coolest additions you’ll find in
the All-New Nissan LEAF

Fresh details on the All-New Nissan LEAF have given it the shot of adrenaline it needed to try slip right back into its market lead. Stylistically the LEAF is taking some risks, ditching the old model’s smooth, almost terrestrial lines in favour of a more refined, sleek five-door crossover look. A more modern inside and vastly improved range and charging mark a rather radical – yet welcome – departure from the dated EV pioneer we know today.

Undoubtedly, the New LEAF does very well in ticking all the boxes a modern driver needs, but we think its Nissan’s attention to detail, and they’re focus on surprise and delight, that will really set the LEAF apart upon launch. If you want a deeper dive of the ins-and-outs of the New LEAF read our full news story. For now though, let’s take a look at five of the coolest additions you’ll find in the All-New Nissan LEAF.

  • Video Game taillights – with a hidden meaning
  • Not your ordinary panoramic roof
  • Grocery security
  • Efficient heat recycling
  • Secret Storage

All-New Nissan LEAF Rear Lights

Video Game Taillights – with a hidden meaning

Inspired by the Nissan Z sports car, the rear-lights on the New LEAF have a pretty cool 3D tunnel effect which looks like it was lifted right from an old Atari game. But, look closely. These aren’t just lights; they hide a subtle nod: they represent the number 2 and 3 in Japanese, which actually stands for Ni-san (Nissan). Little details like this, we feel anyway, are the difference between somebody liking the car, and somebody eating it up.

Not your ordinary panoramic roof

Traditional sun blinds for the panoramic glass roof have been given a back-seat in favour of an electro-dimming alternative. Normally reserved for much higher-end cars, this as-standard addition, cements the LEAF’s position as an affordably luxurious SUV crossover. Another cool feature - the LEAF logo is etched on a panel about half way through. When the sun shines it projects the logo on to the seats like a neat little hologram.

All-New Nissan LEAF Boot Divider

Grocery Security

Not to be confused with a big burly bloke whose sole purpose is to look after your Chocolate Digestives and make sure the milk isn’t squashing the bread. No, this is about the very practical boot divider that stops your shopping bags from being flung about as you take that roundabout a little took excitedly. The Leaf has a simple solution – a two-piece boot floor which can be flipped up into a divider. This keeps your smaller items contained, and there are even hooks on it to secure your bags.

Efficient heat recycling

We wouldn’t be writing a Nissan LEAF article if we didn’t include something about its green credentials now, would we? Granted, this one’s a touch more technical, but that’s fine because it saves you money on electricity. The Leaf’s heating, battery and charging systems are all linked into one system, so it can use wasted heat from one component to warm up another. For example, it can recover heat from the on-board charger and use it to warm up the battery for faster and more efficient charging. Most people will probably never know about this system but they will see the penny’s stick around in their account because of it, that’s for sure.

All-New NIssan LEAF Secret Storage

Secret Storage

Quiet on set please, this is the one you came here for. Beneath all the bells and whistles, the built-in Google and the 48 ambient colour options, lies a secret storage compartment that you won’t find until we tell you how. Under the centre of the dashboard sits a button that once pressed, drops down a secret door. It’s a great spot for any gifts that need stashed away, or a very secure space for leaving your wallet in the car if you can’t be bothered having it bulk up your pockets. It’s just another reminder about how much thought and attention to detail has gone in to making the New LEAF an instant favourite.

UK orders for the new Nissan LEAF will open in autumn 2025, with first customer deliveries expected in spring 2026. You can register your interest in one at the bottom of this page and be the first to see the car and point out these 5 Easter eggs to everyone.
