When you buy a used Kia Stonic in NI you’ll find it copes very well with people and cargo. If either you or your passenger stand at 6ft or more you’ll have no issues in the front cabin with its generous leg, head and shoulder room. The Stonic provide incredibly useful storage upfront with a good-sized glovebox, and cubbies surrounding the gearstick — including a very useful shelf for your smartphone. The middle armrest provides further storage and there are door bins for rear passengers.
The rear has enough headroom and space for all passengers. The boot boasts 352 litres capacity and a really wide boot opening and a false floor to add functionality. When it comes to the running costs of your used Kia Stonic, it is available in two engines — a 1.0 litre petrol turbocharged engine and a mild-hybrid engine. The petrol has an official WLTP fuel economy of 51.4mpg while the mild-hybrid will get 50.4mpg for manual cars or 49.6mpg for automatic.
CO2 emissions, meanwhile, are a low 125g/km for the standard turbo petrol, 127g/km for the manual mild hybrid and 129g/km for the automatic mild hybrid.
Your used Kia Stonic comes with two powertrain options. During its mid-life upgrade, the Stonic’s previous petrol and diesel motors were dropped in favour of a 1.0 litre three-pot petrol version of Kia’s new-generation Smartstream unit. For you that means improved efficiency and torque compared with the motor it replaces.
You have the choice of two outputs: a 99bhp entry level and a 118bhp mild-hybrid. Both versions manage 0–62mph run in around 10 seconds or so, and offer a top speed of about 115mph. The Kia Stonic provides some punch from a standstill and sits in a silent purr when cruising on the motorway.
The Kia Stonic sits 42mm higher than the Rio it replaced which you think might be detriment to its handling. In fact, Kia have done a lot of work under the skin of the Stonic to make it handle very well, keeping the steering sharp and responsive and making the front of the car agile and alert.
You’ll find your used Kia Stonic interior to be comfortable, pragmatic and well equipped. Kia has designed the inside to seem familiar, intuitive almost, and easy for anyone to operate. As ever, Kia have fitted the Stonic with a wonderful kit list – all cars get an 8.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple and Android connectivity, rear USB plugs, cruise control, rear parking sensors and aircon. As you climb the price list there’s a parking camera, keyless entry, LED projector headlights as well as heated seats and steering wheel. All but the entry car also get access to Kia’s connected services, which offer TomTom-based satnav and the ability to find where you’ve parked your car on your phone.
