The boot capacity in a used Kia Sportage varies depending on the powertrain, ranging from 591 litres in the front-wheel-drive petrol manual version to 526 litres in diesel all-wheel-drive models. Fold the rear seats down — which can easily be done manually by using the levers in the boot — and you’ll find yourself with a huge 1,776 litres of space to fill. The flat floor also makes for easier loading.
As for running costs in the Kia Sportage, the self-charging, front-wheel-drive hybrid variant get between 40-45mpg in normal driving conditions making it an efficient choice. If you opt for the 1.6-litre automatic petrol with all-wheel drive, the average fuel economy lingers between 35 and 40mpg. Kia also offers a diesel engine option, which is said to return around 53-54mpg. The plug-in hybrid version delivers an electric only range of up to 43 miles, making it attractive for company car drivers.
Your used Kia Sportage can come with several powertrain options. The current entry point is a 1.6 litre petrol with 48 volt mild-hybrid tech. It puts out a sizeable 157bhp and takes to from 0-62 in 9.8 seconds with up to 44.8mpg. Then there’s the full hybrid powertrain, available in two- or four-wheel drive. It’s paired with the same 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine and a six-speed auto gearbox, a small battery and an electric motor. The result is a sharp 212bhp and a claimed 51.4mpg in the front-wheel drive version, or 45.6mpg for the all-wheel drive option.
The premium spec plug-in-hybrid has a 13.8kWh battery onboard which teams up with the 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine. Kia officially claims it outputs 248bhp when both petrol and electric motor harmonise, and that it will do around 43 miles of emissions-free driving on electric power alone.

The sharp-cut horizontal lines that shoot across the dash and the raised centre console on automatic models makes you feel nicely cushioned, and the blend of high-quality materials and sharp digital displays look simply stunning.
Entry level two comes with a modest 8” infotainment touchscreen system and drivers readout. Higher specs come with the coveted sweeping 12.3” touchscreen and much bigger digital driver’s readout. Your used Sportage is kitted with all the infotainment features you want including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Nav, Bluetooth and DAB radio. The system menus are easy to navigate and the 12.3” system is one of the best touchscreens on the market outside more premium alternatives.
