THE KIA EV3: A MOVING POWER

It may seat five, but it has the power to move millions into the EV era.

Hot on the heels of the flagship EV9, and the already successful EV6, Kia is lining up to release their most affordable electric car to date. The EV3 is another spirited step towards accelerating the world’s transition to electrification. It takes all of the good learnings from the EV9 and bundles them into a compact, cost-effective package catering to a broader range of the market.

The new Kia EV3 is a small electric SUV that speaks the same design language as the rest of Kia’s electric car range with its exciting, futuristic styling and has the promise of extra-long range. Its distinctive exterior design is matched by an equally contemporary interior, laden with clever features. The new EV3 will effectively replace the Kia Soul EV and sit just below the Kia Niro EV in the manufacturers line up.

EV3 interior and technology

If clean, sleek and modern is your design preference then the EV3 will tick every box. The minimal, futuristic interior comes with an ultra-wide digital display stretching 30 inches end-to-end on the dash. There is a 12.3” driver display, a 5” climate control panel and a central 12.3” touchscreen offering the latest streaming tech using LG web OS. The touch display is also loaded with ChatGPT AI voice control allowing drivers to speak to it in more natural, conversational language. For those not keen to converse with their car the Kia EV3 includes a row of physical buttons.

The materials inside the EV3 are impressive. Kia combines colour-keyed buttons and trim inserts with tactile upholstery to create an environment of modern comfort. There is comfortable leg room in the back for adults while those upfront can lounge back when charging. The EV3 even has a clever centre armrest with a slide out table that can be used as a work station between charges.

EV3 battery and range

Kia is set to launch the EV3 with a single 204PS motor giving a 0-62 mph performance of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 105mph. There will be two battery options — a standard 58.3kWh battery and a long range 81.4kWh option. Kia says the battery will charge from 10% to 80% in around 31 minutes. The standard battery will take you up to a range of 250 miles while the long range will deliver over 370 miles between charges.
