City cars will always be tight on space, but the used Kia Picanto maximises it’s size with a roomy interior and a decent boot. The Picanto comes as a five-door option only and the wide-opening rear doors make access in and out undeniably easier. You will notice that most models are only available as 4-seaters and if you need the added versatility of an extra passenger, upgrading to the 5-seater X-Line S is your only option.
Up front there’s plenty of storage dotted about including two cupholders, a tray for your smartphone, and front door pockets — plus a sliding centre console which reveals an extra cubby. The Picanto boasts best-in-class boot space with a capacity of 255 litres with the seats up (nearly as much as in some superminis), and rises to 1,010 litres with them folded down.
On paper, the Picanto’s1.0-litre MPi engine has a slightly better fuel economy than its 1.25-litre, with fuel efficiency rates of 64.2mpg and 61.4mpg respectively. But as you exit the city you’ll ned to work the smaller engine a little harder to make progress meaning there won’t be much -if any - real-world difference.
Your used Kia Picanto has a peppy engine as full of life as the cars character. The 66bhp 1.0 litre is available on all models and will get you from 0-62 in around 14 seconds. It performs effortless through the streets of any bustling city. The Picanto has two other engine options — a 1.25-litre engine with 83bhp and 99bhp turbocharged 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol. You get some upgraded performance from both with a little more expense. The Picanto does its city car job well, with plenty of verve for dashing about town particularly if you’re travelling solo.
Your used Kia Picanto is excellent value, but that doesn’t mean the interior is cheap. The durable plastics on the inside have been textured to add a look of luxury to the interior. The higher up the spec sheet you climb you’ll get interior colour accents, luxury fabrics and an eight-inch ‘floating’ central touchscreen that brings a bit of excitement to the dashboard. In the basic '1' trim, a small dot-matrix screen comes as standard, while USB and aux-in ports are also included. If you want Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, you have to upgrade to the '3' trim or above, where you’ll also find a larger eight-inch touchscreen and a DAB radio. Also useful are the plenty of little places for storage around the cabin, which makes it a more practical day-to-day proposition than you might imagine.
