TOYOTA LAND CRUISER UTILITY COMMERCIAL READY FOR LIFE ON THE ROAD, AND IN THE ROUGH

Toyota’s legendary Land Cruiser has marked a recent milestone, with deliveries of the new Land Cruiser Utility Commercial models. It’s the first time Land Cruiser has been available in the UK’s light commercial market, and it promises to make waves by offering the same all-wheel drive, all-road performance that has given the model a worldwide reputation for genuine go-anywhere capability.

Two versions of the Land Cruiser Utility are available; short wheelbase, three-door and long-wheelbase five-door models, both sharing the same body styling and overall dimensions as the current 2018 passenger vehicle Land Cruiser.

Inside, the rear seats have been taken out to create generous load space that extends to 1,574 litres in the SWB and 2,216 litres in the LWB. In terms of payload, the respective maximum weights are up to 593 and 756kg. And if you need to haul even more than that, both models can tow up to three tonnes.

The load space is every bit as practical and durable as you would expect, fitted with an edge-to-edge, non-slip flat floor tray. A full-height metal bulkhead is provided, with a mesh top section and a hatch for easy access. The rear tailgate is side-hinged and opens wide for easy loading; additionally, the rear doors function on the LWB model. Rear windows are blanked out with a film that matches the Land Cruiser’s body colour.

The Land Cruiser Utility Commercials are business-like with their 17-inch steel wheels, but in the cabin there are plenty of comfort features and safety provisions are high. The tick-list includes cloth upholstery, adjustable head restraints, Aux-in and USB connections. Front, side and driver’s knee airbags are fitted and the vehicle is equipped with Multi-terrain ABS, Active Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control, Trailer Sway Control (LWB only) and a tyre pressure warning system. Dusk-sensing headlights, smart entry, front fog lights and roof rails are also included in the specification.

The range has a new starting point in the form of the Utility grade models, simple in spec’ but with all the quality, durability and reliability that have defined Land Cruiser for decades.
