The All New Toyota Yaris has collected its first major UK honour, winning the Affordable Hybrid Car of the Year title in the Auto Express New Car Awards.
Steve Fowler, Auto Express Editor-in-Chief, said: “The Yaris has come of age, with hybrid power aligning perfectly with the political climate. But the latest Yaris shows that Toyota has continued its development; the twin-motor set-up offers performance, efficiency and refinement. Keen pricing, and the car’s ability to deliver exceptional real-world fuel economy are the icing on a very appealing cake.”
The All New Toyota Yaris was launched in August with an all-hybrid line up. It’s distinguished by compact, urban-friendly styling, exceptional safety features and high specifications for comfort, convenience and connectivity.
The powertrain is also new, featuring a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine and a powerful electric motor. The full hybrid system produces 114bhp and returns fuel economy from 65.69 to 68.9mpg with 92 to 98 g/km CO2 emissions (WLTP combined cycle data). Toyota’s latest generation hybrid technology has transformed the Yaris Hybrid’s all-electric driving capabilities, with EV driving possible at speeds up to 80mph and for longer periods in urban traffic.
The affordability of the new Yaris is founded on its low day-to-day running costs and high residual values, helping Toyota offer competitive PCP vehicle purchase opportunities for customers, currently with zero per cent APR representative. View latest offers available here.
Accepting the award, Agustín Martín, Toyota (GB) President and Managing Director, said: “Our thanks go to Auto Express for this award for the new Yaris. Yaris is our best-selling car, so it is very important to us and I am delighted that this award recognises the power and appeal our new model offers to our customers.”
