Toyota’s multi-path technology strategy for delivering sustained reductions in carbon emissions on the journey to ultimate carbon neutrality has helped secure two prestigious awards for the all-new Toyota C-HR.
The Toyota C-HR Plug-in won Best Hybrid in the Automotive Management (AM) Awards, while the Toyota C-HR range claimed AM’s New Car of the Year.
The honours were presented at a dinner last night and recognised the model’s all-round qualities including the technical excellence of its powertrains, design quality, and clever application of advanced technologies.
Tim Rose, AM Editor, said:
“Our dealer readers are clearly impressed with the Toyota C-HR as they voted for it to win a fantastic duo of awards. In plug-in guise it has stand-out style, comfort and instant zip, and it’s frugal too. And no matter the powertrain, any C-HR stands out from the crowd with its cool looks, excellent real-world efficiency and a plush interior filled with tech that’s easy to use. It really shows the fun side of Toyota.”
Stuart Sanders, Toyota (GB) Communications and Product Director, added:
“The Toyota C-HR is a successful standard-bearer for our approach to achieving meaningful and lasting reductions in carbon emissions through multiple technology solutions. More than that, as these great awards acknowledge, we’ve made it a highly desirable proposition in terms of impactful design, advanced equipment specifications and extension of its Toyota Safety Sense systems to provide even higher levels of protection and assistance.”
The second generation model of Toyota’s popular coupe-styled, mid-sized SUV gives customers three hybrid powertrain choices with 1.8 and 2.0 litre full hybrids and a new 2.0 litre plug-in hybrid. All three systems are fitted out with fifth generation Toyota hybrid technology to maximise fuel and emissions efficiency while delivering smooth, responsive performance and greater all-electric EV driving capability. A line-up peerless in its class.
The Toyota C-HR Plug-in stands as performance leader in the range with 223bhp while remaining the most energy and emissions efficient. With one full battery charge it has an official (WLTP) driving range of up to 41 miles. Unlike other competitor’s plug-in hybrid systems, once the battery charge is exhausted, the C-HR switches seamlessly to hybrid operation rather than defaulting to its petrol engine maintaining a high level of fuel and emissions efficiency.
Match these qualities with contemporary exterior styling and you get an even stronger version of the coupe-inspired lines of the original Toyota C-HR. The technology within is equally cutting-edge. The fully digital user experience includes a customisable driver’s instrument combimeter and responsive multi-media systems easily operated using touchscreens or conversational voice commands. Similarly, the Toyota Safety Sense package features new, extended and enhanced systems that provide assistance across a wider range of common accident risk scenarios.
