The Mifa 9 is available in three trim levels — elite, luxury and premium. The driver of the Mifa 9 is treated like royalty care, at least in range-topping Premium trim, with many-way electric adjustment, heating and massage functions to enjoy. Behind, the two captain’s chairs – made out of leather and PVC, and embroidered with ‘Mifa 9’ – are even more comfortable and even more adjustable. by way of a little touchscreen mounted on the outer armrest. This allows you to control the seat height, lumbar position, massage function, heating and cooling. It can even recline the chairs all the way back for a chaise longue effect. An aircraft-style tray table lifts and folds out of the opposite armrest, too, while there are multiple charging ports throughout the cabin. The touchscreen also gives control of ‘interior scenarios’ like ‘rest moment’ which shuts the blinds over the two fully-panoramic sunroofs and dampen the rear air con and colour customised ambient lighting.
Walk between the pair and you come to a three-man third row, also comfy leather seats, which impressively have enough head room for adults of adult size. There’s a 466-litre boot behind them, which would probably be problematic on airport runs, but they can be folded down in a 60/40 split to create an enormous, van-like cargo space. It’s the sort of car that’s made for grand journeys across great distances. The Range clocks in at a respectable 270 miles based on official figures and a 30% to 80% charge should tale around 30 minutes on rapid charge.
Your used Maxus Mifa 9 system drives a 245bhp electric motor that sends power to the front wheels, while there's an instant 350Nm of torque on tap as well. That's enough for the front tyres to break traction in slippery conditions, and the Mifa 9 feels rapid in a straight line, but thanks to the car's size and 2.5-tonne kerbweight, it's not a car that likes to be hustled along. 0-60 will go by in 9.2 seconds and you’ll have an electronically capped top speed of 112mph.
The Mifa 9 has been designed for ease of operation and a level of smoothness to allow passengers to relax undisturbed. Differing missions of comfort are assigned for each row of seating. Up front the cabin is comfortable, well finished, and short on ergonomic fuss—clearly designed for the professional driver. There is a touch-sensitive control panel for climate-control functions, but almost everything else is controlled by the expansive 12.3-inch central touchscreen.
The middle row, behind electrically operated doors, is where the luxury resides, particularly on the top-spec Premium version, which has two power-adjustable airline-style seats complete with motorized footrests. Perfect for VIP pampering. As expected, row-three comes last in luxury but is still comfortable and practical for kids and adults.
Passengers can stay connected throughout the journey using integrated smartphone apps, music and streaming.
