Road Trip Tips, Hacks & Favourites

After what felt like a very long winter, we are so pleased to see the sun shining. With Northern Ireland tourism set to increase in 2018 we expect more and more people requiring vehicle hire over the summer months. Here’s your ultimate guide to road tripping while you’re here.

Get off to a good start

  • Create a playlist with tunes for everyone, a good playlist can make a long journey seem quicker and keeps everyone in good spirits. If you have Spotify, there's some excellent road trip playlists ready to listen to. Just connect your phone to your rental car and off you go.
  • Plan ahead with favourite snacks to avoid unnecessary shop stops. If you are feeling particularly organised, use large resealable bags and have a snack bag for everyone so there’s no arguments.
  • Make life easier for yourself and keep the car clean and tidy during your trip, use a plastic cereal container as your bin. Our top tips don't stop there; place silicon muffin cups into cup holders to catch crumbs and avoid sticky patches in your car.

Keep the kids entertained

  • Plan a list of car games to keep children entertained, classics like I Spy never get old.
  • Create kid’s survival bags for long journeys – include colouring pages and pencils, wet wipes, books, treats, water bottle, a blanket and whatever else your little ones enjoy. If it’s a particularly long journey, you can put some movies on your iPad and place it on the seats in front of young (or adult) passengers to keep them entertained.
  • Use a shower organiser to separate items that you might need throughout your journey so you can easily access everything when required.
