Green Card required for Irish Border crossings

Car, Van & Minibus Hire journeys between Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

From 01 January 2021 all vehicles crossing the border between UK & EU will require proof of insurance. You may be asked to show a 'Green Card' as your proof of insurance. At Shelbourne Vehicle rental we are committed to ensuring your journey is hassle free.

Many of our customers will frequently travel across the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. As part of the service we offer we provide insurance for both parts of Ireland as part of your vehicle hire agreement with us.

However, You will be required to bring proof of insurance cover if you are travelling across the Irish border from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Our rental team can arrange this prior to collection of your vehicle and it will be valid for the length of your vehicle hire agreement.

Please ensure you allow our team enough time to make the green card application ahead of your rental vehicle collection.
