Charlene Drives away with the CLIO in Hospice Car Competition

Charlene McGurk from Coalisland was the lucky winner of Southern Area Hospice Services ‘Win a CLIO’ Competition which was supported by Shelbourne Motors, Renault, AbbeyAutoline and the Oaks Centre in Dungannon.

The draw took place on Saturday 7th November at Shelbourne Motors in Newry with the Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Laura Devlin in attendance to verify the draw. Radio presenter, Kevin McAllister, was also on hand to MC proceedings and Mac Mac Media recorded the draw which is available to view on the Southern Area Hospice Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Charlene paid a visit to Shelbourne Motors in Newry this week to collect her new wheels. Ronan Marshall of Shelbourne Motors was joined by Anne Mac Oscar and James McCaffrey of Southern Area Hospice to hand the car over to Charlene, who was delighted to receive it. As well as a new car which was supplied by Shelbourne Motors and Renault, Charlene also won one year’s free insurance generously sponsored by AbbeyAutoline.

Speaking about her win Charlene said, “I am so delighted, the smile hasn’t left my face since I received the phone call to say I had won. I bought an entry online mainly to support the Hospice and never imagined I would ever win. I am so thrilled and can’t wait to hit the road in my new CLIO.”

Speaking of their support of the Car Competition, Ronan Marshall, Group Marketing Manager at Shelbourne Motors said, “We are thrilled to have been involved with this fantastic fundraising drive for the Southern Area Hospice. As a local business with 150 employees working and living within the area, many of our colleagues and customers have had first hand experience of the outstanding work that the Hospice provides. Every single entry into the ‘Win a CLIO’ competition has helped in some way towards this service and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to supply the prize. On behalf of the entire team at Shelbourne Motors I would like to congratulate Charlene and wish her all the best with her prize.”

Everyone at Southern Area Hospice would like to congratulate Charlene on her win and wish her well with her new car. Despite many of their fundraising events being affected due to the Pandemic, Southern Area Hospice Services has continued to provide the highest level of Hospice care to patients and their families through these very difficult times, and it is only with people supporting campaigns such as their car competition that they can do this. All the money raised through the car competition will enable them to continue their work providing care and support to local people.

Southern Area Hospice Services would like to extend their thanks to Shelbourne Motors, Renault, AbbeyAutoline and the Oaks Centre for their help and support with the car competition. Thanks are also extended to Mac Mac Media who created fantastic video content throughout the campaign and on the draw day. Thanks are extended to the Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Laura Devlin and to Kevin McAllister for their support with the draw. Thanks are also extended to every single person who purchased an entry and helped to raise vital funds for Southern Area Hospice Services.
