How does a rental security deposit work?

One of the most common questions we get asked is about the security deposit. Is a deposit required? Is it possible to rent a vehicle without a deposit? How much is it going to be? So let us explain...

How does a rental deposit work?

A security deposit is simply a guarantee to us, just to be safe while our vehicles are with you, in the off chance that something goes wrong during your rental period. If for example the vehicle is returned with scratches or dents we may need to use some of the money to repair the vehicle. But accidents happen, we know. If nothing’s wrong when you return the vehicle, the security deposit will be returned fully.

How much is a rental deposit?

We require £150 security deposit for all vehicle bookings. This is fully refundable on return provided the vehicle is in the same condition it was let out in.

How long does it take to return my deposit?

It usually takes between 7 & 10 business days for the deposit to be returned directly into your account. Remember we're only holding this money while you have the rental vehicle. When you return it & we've checked the vehicle is perfectly fine, we'll return the full amount.

Is it possible to avoid paying a deposit?

Unfortunately, not. We know it’s not always ideal, but we're trusting you with something very valuable & that’s why it’s mandatory.

We hope that clears up any questions you have regarding the security deposit, but if you have any further questions please let us know, you can contact the rental team on 028 3839 6868.
