Renault has just made a major move in the UK electric car market and customers in Portadown and Newry are set to benefit first. The new Renault 5 and Renault 4 ranges are now officially eligible for the highest-level £3,750 Electric Car Grant, making two of the most in-demand electric cars on the market even more accessible.
This isn’t just a simple price cut. Renault is now the first manufacturer qualified for the full Band 1 support, thanks to its new French-built battery production at the Douai gigafactory. It’s a huge moment for the brand, and another sign of Renault’s dominance following its recent run of global awards.
To qualify for the full grant, Renault has introduced a new “+” line-up for both Renault 5 and Renault 4. These versions come exclusively with a 52kWh battery, built in northern France using more sustainable processes that meet the UK Government’s strictest environmental criteria.
The best part? These models don’t just save you money, they add more spec as standard!
The new Renault 5+ range now includes techno+, iconic five+ and Roland Garros+. Prices start from £23,945 with the grant applied, bringing a longer-range EV and upgraded equipment into a price bracket normally dominated by petrol hatchbacks.
The Renault 4+ line-up mirrors that structure with evolution+, techno+ and iconic+. Prices start from £23,445 after the grant, making the new 4 one of the most compelling family EVs you can buy today.
Customer feedback has shaped the upgrade. Renault has added more design presence, better audio, and fresher styling across the range.
Renault 5 techno+ now comes with a contrasting black roof for a sharper two-tone look. The iconic five+ and Roland Garros+ models gain a Harman Kardon stereo, adding premium audio to the retro-modern cabin. The tech, the feel, the details, everything has had a lift.
Renault 4 evolution+ now gets a new 18-inch steel wheel design, while techno+ also gains the black roof treatment. The iconic+ version receives the Harman Kardon system too, giving the 4 a properly upmarket finish without drifting from its adventurous DNA.
Together, the price drop, battery upgrade and extra spec create a line-up that punches far above its price point.
The new grant means the Renault 5+ now starts from £23,945 and the Renault 4+ from £23,445 - numbers that will grab the attention of anyone shopping for their first EV or switching from petrol.
