All-New Renault Megane E-Tech Electric scoops Top Gear’s Family Hatch of the Year

Top Gear’s annual prestigious awards saw the All-New Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric winning ‘Family Hatch of the Year’. After Renault’s newest model was unveiled in September at the IAA Munich Mobility Show 2021, this is the first award for the new Mégane ahead of arriving in the UK in 2022.

The Mégane E-Tech has been famed for it’s engaging driving experience and practical design. Jack Rix, Editor for Top Gear Magazine, said, "The All-New Mégane E-Tech Electric feels low and lithe to drive. It corners precisely, there’s little delay or roll. It’s about 100kg lighter than the VW ID.3, and feels agile with it. There’s a lot to like about its interior layout, trim and space priorities of its cabin too, as well as how it looks from the outside. Many electric cars are satisfying and sensible, the new Mégane is desirable too.”

Benefitting from the advanced CMF-EV electric car platform, the All-New Mégane E-Tech Electric is the first of a new generation of electric vehicles to benefit from this. Available in two battery options, 40kWh for a range of up to 186 miles (WLTP) and 60kWh for up to 292 miles of range (WLTP). Various charging options are available, including DC charing up to 130kW for faster charging, providing up to 186 miles charge in just 30 minutes.

With the new Renault logo, high tech lights and a compact footprint, the All-New Mégane E-Tech Electric leads the way with its elegant design. The interior offers extreme spaciousness with optimal comfort and Renault’s new OpenR screen technology. The All-New Megane E-Tech Electric offers no less than 26 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) bringing innovative safety systems and drivers aid to the segment.

Vincette Tourette, Vincent Tourette, Managing Director, Renault UK, said: “We’re thrilled to accept the accolade of ‘Family Hatch of the Year’ from Top Gear for our latest electric offering, the All-New Mégane E-Tech Electric. It’s a model that’s extremely important to us and represents the electric revolution that Renault started more than a decade ago. This latest award underlines the appeal of the vehicle and we hope that this will continue with the launch of the model in the UK in 2022.”
