Hilux challenges the perception of power with its all new diesel model. The 2.4 litre D-4D engine performs superbly thanks to new technology which greatly increases torque in low to medium speed ranges and provides unprecedented acceleration. The new engine also contributes to Hilux’s improved towing capabilities. This engine has been designed to keep noise levels down and efficiency up.
There is also the efficient new 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions: they add to the premium SUV-style driving sensation. The new 2,393cc unit generates 150hp at 3,400rpm and offers 400Nm of torque from between 1,600 and 2,000rpm - this is 15% more and from 600rpm lower than the outgoing, and already impressive 2.5 litre engine. Despite being on par with competitors’ high performance engines, this doesn't come at the expense of fuel efficiency. The new 2.4-litre D-4D returns an average fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions as low as 40.4mpg * and 185g/km *
