Trafic Is Fuel Economy Champ

Economy driving experts Steve Heywood and Steve Johnson claimed a significant award in the UK's only national economy driving event, the MPG Marathon. The english pair trounced the opposition in the commerical vehicle class by achieving 58.66 miles per gallon in a standard specification Renault Trafic SL29 115ps dCi. They took the "percentage improvement on published combined mpg figure" award, achieving a staggering 53.55% improvement over the official figure of 38.2mpg, far in excess of any other vehicle on the event.

And there was celebration for Renault with the news that the pairing of Dave Randle and Peter Cracknell, had won their call in the Renault Master with a highly creditable 44.69mpg, a 31.44% improvement on the van's published combined cycle figure.

The 400-mile, two-day MPG Marathon route took in all manner of road conditions, from rush hour urban congestion to free flowing motorwars, and steep Welsh hills.
